Matched pair of long (for 20" transom) shaft 1962 Evinrude 28 HP Speeditwin outboard motors. Both motors are electric start. One motor has a DC generator (In 1962, charge dividers didn't exist so both engines would share one battery and only one engine would charge the battery)
These motors could be easily converted to short shaft (for 15" transom boats) by removing the exhaust housing and driveshaft extension sections
These engines when first sold new, were mounted on a 1962 18' Glasspar SeaFair SunLiner. The boat was used only a few times before the owner died. The boat and motors were then stored indoors for the next 56 years. I bought the boat in 2018 and used it extensively through the end of last year. The motors likely have less than 100 hours of running time and both appear near-new cosmetically. The boat (with these motors) was awarded "Most Original Vintage Boat" at the 2019 Lake Arrowhead Classic Boat Show
    Also included is the
Evinrude special twin-engine remote control with cables; the electrical junction boxes with harnesses, the dash harnesses with ignition and choke switches; the steering connection yokes/pulleys/tie-bar and the OMC ammeter for the charging system
I bought this rig because it was a one-of-a-kind time capsule. I'm really a Merc guy but if these were twin 40's, I would continue using the boat as-is but I now want more power. On the 18' Glasspar SeaFair (a beamy and heavy boat for its length) these 28's plane it but it's a 19 knot boat when loaded with fuel and people. I am active in the Antique and Classic Boat Society and am tired of being out-run by the wooden boat guys with V-8's. Plus, these blue Evinrudes do not match the red boat. So, I'm restoring a pair of Mercury Mark 58's color-matched to the boat. The Mercs will double the horsepower. These Evinrudes are are unique though and I want them to go to a vintage boater
These are still on the boat (as of June 2020) and can be viewed running in Southern Calif
