The design of the Argenta model is identical to the top of the line Contempora, except made with solid nickel silver. This has the same great playing characteristics as the Contempora cornet, but with a little darker tone quality and enhanced projection derived from the nickel silver construction.
It is difficult to notice in the photos, but we soldered a sleeve cut from a silver-plated leadpipe over the tapered section of the leadpipe. We removed some dings from this area, but a little waviness remained. The cornet was too nice to leave it that way, so we covered it up. This not only looks better, but the added layer on the leadpipe tends to contain the sound vibrations, which are carried farther downstream. This adds to the already superior projection of this cornet. We like the way it came out.
The OEM clear lacquer has been stripped, and a chemical cleaning was performed.
I feel this would make an exceptional Jazz solo horn.
