    "Crinoline Girl"
    powder jar.  She was sold filled with  products of Ramses Cosmetics which was located in Paris and New York. Catalog ads date her circa the 1930s. This striking figural powder jar is in

    "Crinoline Girl" Powder Jar
    A 1931 Sears ad provides information about this powder jar. The jar came filled with Ramses body powder and featured a "frosted bowl made to represent a crinoline girl." Therefore, "Crinoline Girl" appears to be the perfect name for this jar, which originally retailed for 59¢ - complete with powder. The lid consists of a lady wearing an off-shoulder hoop skirt gown. Her arms are by her sides, and she is holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a large round hat with flowers is hanging from her other arm. The bottom of the jar, with its prominently embossed bows, completes the skirt. This jar is 4.5" in diameter and 4 3/4" tall. It has been found in blue satin, crystal, crystal with fired-on colors, green satin, pink satin and pink transparent. The base of some of these powder jars will be marked "Ramses - Paris - N.Y."
