yusabrou Tsujimura Sugata Maki-e Fountain Pen 14K F Nib - Kyusai Yoshida
    (Rare) NIB
    Product Description
Offered for sale is a relative rare Pilot Sugata Maki-e Fountain Pen with an artwork designed by artist Jyusaburo Tsujimura and painted on the pen by Kyusai Yoshida. This is one of the rare collaboration between Pilot and the local artists in Japan. Introduced by Pilot in 1991, this pen came with three floral designs by Master artist Jyusaburo Tsujimura and painted by Master artist Kyusai Yoshida using maki-e on the pens. These unusual designs represented artist's impression of flowers with a fresh modern take. These are different from normal maki-e work by any of the major japanese manufacturers. Each design comes with 700 pieces and these pens are not commonly found in marketplace nowadays.
Who is Master artist Jyusaburo Tsujimura?
TSUJIMURA Jyusaburo, born in 1933, is not only a famous artist to make dolls but also an art director of films and theater. He is one of most authentic and finest doll artists in Japan. Most of his dolls are traditional Japanese in Kimono, but he also makes some western style dolls. They are so sultry as if they are really alive. He is well revered in the Japanese art world (and also in the world) that there is a “Jusaburo” museum in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. He actively expands the scope of his art into areas such as costume design, direction, and script writing for stage and film. His performances have received high acclaim including those in America, Europe and Hong Kong.
Who is Master artist Kyusai Yoshida?
Master or rather Grandmaster Kyusai Yoshida of Pilot Namiki needs little introduction in the pen maki-e world. His skills and artworks are one of the best in the pen maki-e world. He was the chief Kokokai 國光會 artist who retired more than 10 years ago. His artwork is getting more and more difficult to come by. Comparing the artwork made by the current generation of artists, the artworks from the earlier generations of artists are seemingly more lively and vivid. Nevertheless, with due respect to the current generation of artists, they can match or even surpass their Senpai as they put in effort to improve on their skills. Master Yoshida's masterpieces are getting more and more difficult to come by. Prices of some of the his pieces have even gone very expensive. This piece is one of his masterpieces that was not signed by him but is known to be made solely by him.
This pen new in the box. Comes with the original boxes and papers (please see photos). Please note that the boxes are not in the best condition due to long years of storage. However, the condition is still very good. This pen also comes with a 14k Fine nib with a TJ (Tsujimura Jyusaburo) emblem instead of the usual Pilot emblem. One piece only with me. This is an opportunity to own a pen with two masters' artwork at a affordable price. A truly collectible piece of art. Get it before it is gone
