The rough sketch is the work of Japanese painter Riki Nakamachi.
The pattern is a combination of flowers and plants that are derived from each animal, mainly the animals of the zodiac.
Maki-e is a fountain pen finished with Togidashi Maki-e by Kokkoukai members (Pilot Maki-e artist group). An author name card is attached to each book.
What is Togidashi Maki-e?
After drawing the main pattern using the same method as flat maki-e, the entire base is coated with lacquer and polished to reveal the pattern.
