Wonderful antique powder box featuring beautiful lady half doll from the roaring (19)20's. The lady appears to be chalkware, gorgeous detail to her hand painted face with eyeshadow to match her red mohair wig, bright blue eyes and red bee-stung lips ---- all very vogue of the era! She's impress stamped c KG 1925. Original netting covers her head, fragile fabric skirt stitched around her waist with matching hairband, both showing wear due to age. The half doll shows light soiling. It can be hard to find chalkware without numerous flaws, this lady is quite beautiful! She'
s affixed to painted box with wooden lid/base and thick cardboard center, shows some wear.
Stands a total of 9" tall, the lady is just under 6", base of box 2-3/4" tall, 5-1/2" diameter opening.
I believe this item to be a custom piece of the 1920s, nearly 100 yrs old now!
