Lon Warneke matchbook photo is
from 1933
, when he
pitched in the first All-Star Game
for the National League (NL) while with the Chicago Cubs. He
hit the first triple
and
scoring in the first NL run in All-Star Game history.
He also pitched in the
1934
and
1936
All-Star games and was selected for the team in
1939
and
1941.
He also pitched in the
1932

1935
World Series and pitched a

while with the St. Louis Cardinals.
He considered himself a
"Hot Springs"
boy where he was a business man and also owned this
"Lon Warneke Service Station"
shown on matchbook cover.
My dad brought this matchbook back from one of his trips. It is among the most prized in my collection, all black and white, has seen vintage wear, back was p
reviously attached, and has original strike, no matches. Please see scan for condition.
